‘This Is Not a Political Issue, It’s a Moral Issue’—Michael W. Smith Urges Ohioans To Vote ‘No’ on Abortion-Related Issue 1

Smith informed viewers that if Ohio’s Issue 1 passes, “it would not be good,” and that it “would change what is now the heartbeat rule and allow up to full term abortion as the new rule of law. “

Additionally, there are “other dangerous implications” that this bill imposes, he said, and urged Ohioans to do their research.

Calling the decision a “spiritual battle,” Smith said that “by prayer and by casting your vote, you can do your part in the battle for your state and for your people.” The accomplished Christian musician told Ohioans to “think of the future in Ohio for your families and especially your own children.”

“If this passes and becomes part of your constitution,” he added, “it will affect generations to come.” Smith strongly encouraged Ohioans to “vote no” on Issue 1 and spread the “word in your churches in your sphere of influence.”

While concluding his message, Smith said that because “we fear and glorify God, the maker of every life,” voting this Tuesday is “one way to express your convictions.” He then reminded voters in Ohio that they aren’t alone in this fight and that many, including him, are with them in prayer.
